Een Australische moeder is volledig in paniek geraakt nadat ze in een appel beet, die ze gekocht had bij de Aldi. Toen ze het stuk fruit in haar mond had, proefde ze iets vreemds. Emma keek naar de appel en heeft direct een foto gemaakt.
Pink Lady appel
De vrouw in kwestie, Emma, heeft de foto geplaatst in de Facebook-groep ALDI Mums. Hier wil ze anderen op de hoogte brengen van wat er is gebeurd en wil ze anderen ook waarschuwen. De zaden van haar Pink Lady appel waren namelijk van binnen ontkiemd. Op de foto is een half opgegeten stuk fruit te zien met een lange witte stengel die uit een van de zaden komt.
Op het eerste gezicht zou je kunnen denken aan een worm, maar inspectie heeft uitgewezen dat het gaat om wat anders. Emma zegt dat ze de appel op woensdag had gekocht. Onder de post reageren groepsleden verrast op de ontdekking. Er zijn mensen die het ranzig vinden, maar er is ook iemand die handel ziet. ”Kweek je eigen appelboom, je hoeft ze nooit meer te kopen.”
Lang bewaard
Er zijn ook mensen die zich afvragen hoe dit kan. Iemand schrijft dat dit komt omdat appels zo lang bewaard worden. ”Appels worden in mei geplukt en liggen dan het hele jaar door in een koelopslag. Dus dit zouden appels zijn die vorig jaar geoogst waren.” Een ander merkt aansluitend op: ”Dit laat je echt afvragen hoe oud ze zijn tegen de tijd dat we ze kopen.”
